With a primary focus on security, the improved platform, based on existing .Net and Windows technology, underwent rigorous evaluation by third-party security experts to map potential vulnerabilities of every component and ensure the best possible protection against security threats and breaches.

Secure Authentication
The upgraded infrastructure no longer requires users to create usernames and passwords that are proprietary to PerSay and stored in its database. Now, VocalPassword, FreeSpeech and S.P.I.D. users can login with a domain username and password that are stored and maintained in a central location by the organization’s system administrator. Using existing authentication mechanisms, such as Windows Integrated Security, PerSay now authenticates users via their current system account information, avoiding the need for additional usernames and passwords.
Secure Authorization
PerSay’s 6.0 platform extends out-of-the-box product capabilities by expanding the flexibility of role-based authorization. Whereas the basic product includes only two role choices-Administrator and Help Desk-PerSay now offers administrators the freedom to create and assign additional roles, as well as define specific parameters for those roles. For example, a company can now decide who is authorized to set security thresholds and change a software license… and this no longer needs to be the same person.
Streamlined Platform
PerSay products are supported by a common infrastructure; the primary differences between them involve the algorithms they run in various scenarios. Another enhancement of the Version 6.0 release is a redesigned algorithm engine that simultaneously supports multiple algorithms, enabling customers to use the same product and platform to concurrently perform multiple verifications with different algorithms. Earlier product releases required separate software for each algorithm.
Database Optimization
As PerSay’s deployments of voice biometric speaker verification solutions continue to grow rapidly in both number and scope, the company’s database must be able to address escalating numbers of interactions in the same response time. As part of an effort to create an infrastructure that can manage millions of voiceprints and verifications, PerSay changed its voiceprint ID capacity from 32 to 64 bits and moved a lot of data to Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM), providing much faster access. PerSay’s new platform also supports IBM’s DB2 database.
In addition, PerSay developed a new VoiceXML layer that enables IVRs to call PerSay’s VocalPassword Application Programming Interface (API) directly from a VoiceXML script, making integration easier and faster.
